Our Story

We are a German-Icelandic family living on our farm in the south of Iceland – surrounded by horses, dogs, and the vast landscape that shapes the rhythm of our daily life.

What once began as a small idea has grown into a special place of retreat, where we share our passion for horses and our deep connection to nature with guests from all over the world.

For us, it’s not just about a riding tour or a place to stay – it’s about an experience. We want to create a place where you can truly arrive, slow down, and feel at home from the very first moment.

The unique atmosphere of our farm comes from its quiet and authenticity: far away from the crowds, accompanied only by the sounds of nature, the horses, and the changing seasons.

A respectful, mindful, and personal approach – both towards our guests and our animals – is at the heart of everything we do.

This is us

Cora

Cora was born in Germany and first came to Iceland at the age of 16 – more than 25 years ago. Since 2004, she has lived here permanently and made Iceland her home.

In 2009, she graduated from Hólar and is now a certified riding instructor and horse trainer with over 35 years of experience.

Her work is defined by sensitivity, clarity, and a deep understanding of horses – always aiming for a harmonious and trusting partnership between horse and rider.

Alongside her work with the horses, Cora shapes and organizes daily life on the farm with great dedication and an eye for detail.

And if you ever see her walking quickly across the yard, it’s usually because she’s on her way to the horses – her favorite place to be.

Fjóla

Fjóla has been an essential part of our farm for many years and is truly indispensable to our daily life.

Born in Germany, she is a trained equine physiotherapist and brings her knowledge into the care of our horses every single day – and beyond, supporting many other horses as well.

With her experience, calm presence, and intuitive understanding of both horses and people, she supports our work in training as well as in everyday interactions with our horses and guests.

Her contribution plays a key role in maintaining the special atmosphere and quality of our farm.

Most often, you’ll find Fjóla with the horses – whether in the stable or out on a ride.

Arnar

Arnar grew up in Reykjavík but spent his holidays in the countryside with his grandparents – surrounded by cows, sheep, and horses. Life with animals has been part of him from an early age.

On the farm, he takes care of everything behind the scenes that keeps things running smoothly – from craftsmanship and fencing to harvesting hay for the horses.

With his calm and reliable nature, Arnar often stays in the background, yet he is an essential part of our everyday life.

You’ll usually find him in the workshop or out in the fields.

Katla Björk

Katla grew up with horses and dogs and spends as much time as possible with the animals.

When she’s not outside, she dedicates herself to her second passion – painting. Some of her artwork can also be found around the farm.

She knows our animals very well and helps wherever needed – whether in the stable, riding, or caring for dogs and chickens.

Most often, you’ll find Katla with the animals, in the stable, or out in nature.

Kormákur Tumi

Kormákur is curious, helpful, and always involved in what’s happening around the farm.

He loves being outdoors, lending a hand, and welcoming our guests – especially the younger ones.

He already speaks three languages and enjoys chatting with visitors.

In summer, he’s usually out riding his bike, and in winter, he enthusiastically builds snow houses.

Dreki is our little whirlwind – fast, alert, and always right in the middle of everything. With his strong personality and lively nature, he often brings a smile to people’s faces. You’ll usually find him wherever Katla is.

Ronja

Ronja is confident, clever, and definitely has a mind of her own. She is simply part of the farm and brings her own unique energy into everyday life. Most often, she’s out with Cora – or riding along in the tractor.

Our Horses

Our herd of around 35 Icelandic horses is the heart of our farm. From newborn foals to experienced riding horses and seniors, each one has its own unique character.

We place great importance on knowing every horse individually and supporting their development – ideally from a young age.

With care, respect, and experience, our horses are raised and trained to become reliable partners – both in lessons and on our rides. And regardless of age – always ready for a cuddle.

Our Chickens

Our chickens are a colorful and lively part of the farm. They roam freely, are curious by nature, and provide us with fresh eggs every day. Along the way, they also take care of a bit of “gardening” and bring small, joyful moments into everyday life. Their home is the large barn – but whenever the weather allows, they happily explore the farm throughout the day.
